IFP, exhibs cut prices

Indie film org partners with 10 Gotham cinemas

Not-for-profit indie film org IFP has partnered with 10 Gotham cinemas to offer reduced admission prices in celebration of the org's Independent Film Week Sept. 18-21.

Theaters participating in the program -- through which tickets will cost $6 for all shows, for all patrons -- include BAM Rose Cinemas, Landmark's Sunshine Cinema, the Walter Reade Theater, Anthology Film Archives, Cinema Village, ImaginAsian Theater, Brooklyn Heights Cinema, Cobble Hill Cinemas and Kew Gardens Cinemas.

IFP's 28th annual market and its inaugural IFP Filmmaker Conference are also taking place during the week.

IFP is headed by exec director Michelle Byrd.

Other highlights for Independent Film Week will include an arts lecture series in partnership with the New York Times called TimesTalks and a Gotham preem of Dito Montiel and First Look Studios' Sundance pic "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints," which will kick off the week Sept. 18.

Chrysler also will use the week to unveil the winner of its Chrysler Film Project contest, which gives an up-and-coming filmmaker the opportunity to develop and produce a pic budgeted at $1 million.
