"Star Trek: Legacy," a videogame set for release this fall from publisher Bethesda Softworks, will feature voiceover work and likeness rights from William Shatner ("Star Trek"), Patrick Stewart ("The Next Generation"), Avery Brooks of "Deep Space Nine," Kate Mulgrew of "Voyager" and Scott Bakula ("Enterprise").
Game, which spans all five "Trek" series, is the first project to bring all actors who played the captains on the shows together in character.
"Legacy" will be the first "Star Trek" project to come out since UPN series "Enterprise" was canceled last year. As such, it's something of an effort to revitalize audience interest in the franchise as Paramount develops an 11th "Star Trek" film, with J.J. Abrams attached to direct.
Last "Star Trek" videogame was released in 2002. Former publisher Activision stopped making games amid a dispute with Viacom over whether the conglom was properly supporting the franchise. They settled that lawsuit in 2005.
Bethesda picked up the interactive rights from CBS, which got the core "Star Trek" rights in its divorce from Viacom.
