Gotham-based company's first clients are singer-songwriters Steve Earle and Allison Moorer.
"This is an extraordinary time in the music business," Goldberg said. "Clearly it is a time when new business models will emerge. I am convinced that regardless of how the business re-invents itself, creative talent will be at its center, more than ever before."
Goldberg's first foray into management was in the 1980s, when he created and built Gold Mountain Entertainment, personally managing or co-managing Nirvana, Hole, Bonnie Raitt, Rickie Lee Jones, Roy Orbison and the Allman Brothers.
Exec most recently was CEO of Air America Radio, where he remains vice chairman. Prior to that, Goldberg launched and ran Artemis Records from 1999 to 2004. He was also president of Atlantic Records, chairman of Warner Brothers Records and president of Mercury Records.
Goldberg will serve as president of Gold Village and will be involved in all aspects of its business. Jesse Bauer, who worked with Goldberg at Artemis, has been named general manager of the company.
Although Goldberg is no longer a part of Gold Mountain, Gold Village is partnering in the management of Earle and Moorer with Gold Mountain, Nashville, which is run by Burt Stein.
