Burnett is already producing for AOL the reality show "Gold Rush," which is set to launch soon along with media partner CBS' fall schedule.
Deal comes as AOL is taking several different steps to expand its online content in a bid to draw more traffic and, thus, advertising.
Netco is launching a revamped version of its video portal this week that includes both ad-supported video-on-demand and downloadable episodes for sale from partners including MTV Networks, TNT and A&E.
While AOL has been emphasizing video since it moved most of its content onto the open Web last year, the new section of its site is designed to help it stand out more in the increasingly competitive Net video space.
With a search function, viral videos and Hollywood content for sale or free viewing, AOL is hoping to offer elements of the video sections of YouTube, iTunes and Google.
It also will feature AOL's exclusive content, such as its In2TV, which runs classic Warner Bros. shows on-demand, along with upcoming Net skeins like "Gold Rush" and the DreamWorks Animation program.
AOL is in negotiations with other nets and studios to add more content for sale, rental or on-demand viewing and is considering adding feature films as well.
In addition, Time Warner is set to brief investors this week on a plan for AOL that's expected to include a major shift away from subscriptions and toward Web-based content and advertising.
