"Bones" exec producer Barry Josephson has tapped Brian Pines to head development for his 20th Century Fox TV-based production shingle.
Pines was most recently VP of development and production for Paul Attanasio and Katie Jacobs' Heel & Toe Films, where he was exec in charge of production on the company's Fox drama "House." At Josephson Entertainment, Pines will be VP of television.
Josephson said increased production volume at the shingle, along with the demands of his feature business, led him to hire Pines, who had been at Heel & Toe for five years.
"I basically had been doing (TV) on my own, and I felt overwhelmed by the process," Josephson told
Daily Variety. "I think I can step up the business by having someone with Brian's experience. He's got a great knowledge of writers, and he's had good relationships with agents."
Josephson said his goal for this development season is to set up five scripts at the nets, both comedies and dramas.
Toward that end, company's already set up the hospital sudser "Nurses" as a script at the Fox net. Project is being produced in conjunction with Shed, the U.K. shingle behind "Footballers Wives."
Josephson has also inked a blind script deal with scribe Cynthia Cidre ("The Mambo Kings"). She'll develop a series project for the company.
Pines said Josephson's desire to have a number of projects in the works at all times spurred him to make the move from Heel & Toe to Josephson Entertainment.
"I really wanted to be involved in the development of more projects," he said. "I wanted more of a challenge."
Pines got his showbiz start working for Susan Sarandon's Silly Goose Prods. and said Sarandon helped introduce him to Josephson.
Sarandon is lensing the Josephson-produced "Enchanted" for Disney.
Josephson's most recent feature credits include "Hide and Seek" and "The Ladykillers."
