Par plucks music man

Miramax vet Spendlove to replace Kirkpatrick

Paramount Pictures is expected to announce that former Miramax Films motion picture music prexy Randy Spendlove is joining the studio as exec VP of music and creative affairs. He would replace John Kirkpatrick in the post and report to Par Music Group prexy Burt Berman.

Although exact reasons for Kirkpatrick's departure are unclear, he will remain at the studio while overseeing music completion for the studio's "Jackass: Number Two." The film will be released Sept. 22.

Kirkpatrick, who departs after two years in the job, is expected to pursue music supervision and other opportunities in film and TV music.

Spendlove left Miramax more than a year ago and since then has been working on Gregory Nava's "Bordertown" and Bruce Evans' "Mr. Brooks." He is currently music supervisor on Par/DreamWorks' "Dreamgirls," directed by Bill Condon.

During his eight-year tenure at Miramax, Spendlove won a Grammy for "Chicago"; other credits included "Gangs of New York," "Shakespeare in Love" and "Cold Mountain."
