The service consists of 10 hours of 4Kids' animated programs, including episodes of series such as "Yu-Gi-Oh!," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," "Sonic X," "Kirby" and "Winx Club." Every two weeks, different episodes will be added to the mix as replacements.
Kicking off Aug. 7, the service will include more than two hours of never-before-seen episodes of "Yu-Gi-Oh! Capsule Monsters." The Fox Network gets its four-hour Saturday morning children's programming block from 4Kids.
Norman Grossfeld, president of 4Kids Prods., said one of the goals of the service is to funnel to the Fox shows new viewers who might discover the series on VOD.
The service will be free to Comcast subscribers who have bought a digital box. Revenues to Comcast and 4Kids will come from advertising spots inserted into the on-demand cablecasts. Research shows kids don't fast-forward through such VOD ad messages as single-mindedly as adults do.
