'Designer' decorates Bravo

Cabler greenlights new reality competish

Bravo is taking its next designer competition from the runway into the home.

The NBC Universal cable network has greenlit "Top Designer," a "Project Runway"-style skein aimed at finding the country's next great interior decorator.

Reality shop Stone & Co. ("The Mole") will produce.

Post-"Queer Eye," Bravo has made its name on highbrow elimination shows; culinary competish "Top Chef" and "Runway" are the biggest hits on the net. Most recent episode of the latter, currently in season three, grabbed a solid 2.6 million total viewers (1.8 million adults 18-49) on July 19.

As in "Chef" and "Runway," contestants in "Top Designer" will be put through a series of weekly challenges testing their stamina and creativity. Winner will land enough cash to start his own design firm and a spot in one of New York's finest designer showcases.

Casting on "Top Designer" is under way; cabler has not yet set a premiere date.

Other competition-oriented projects still in contention at Bravo include "Heads Up," set in the world of hairstylists, and "The Inn Crowd," where businesspeople compete to own and operate their own inn.
