'Sassy' role for Cuthbert

Thesp in talks for Gold 'Girl'

Elisha Cuthbert is in final negotiations to take the title role in "My Sassy Girl" for Gold Circle Films and helmer Yann Samuell.

Cuthbert would play a reckless, brazen girl who turns the life of a small-town guy from the Midwest upside down. Production is scheduled to start Oct. 16 in Gotham.

Vic Levin wrote the script, adapting the story from a South Korean romantic comedy.

Gold Circle prexy Paul Brooks is producing alongside Vertigo's Roy Lee and Maverick Films' Mark Morgan.

Gold Circle's Scott Niemeyer and Norm Waitt exec produce with Vertigo's Doug Davison, Maverick's Guy Oseary, Milton Kim and Jay Polstein.

Gold Circle production veep Zak Kadison, who brought the project in, is co-producing with Maverick's Brent Emery.

Cuthbert has a couple of films in the can: Frank Cappello's "He Was a Quiet Man" and Roland Joffe's "Captivity."
