Studio snapped up the rights last week after eyeing Kihn's book proposal. Warners is rumored to have paid $500,000 against $1 million. On Tuesday, Random House division Broadway Books won a bid to publish Kihn's tome.
Book chronicles Kihn's transformation from sweet guy to complete jerk. He hatched the unusual plan after being told by his bosses at the Gotham ad agency where he works that he was simply too nice to be promoted. Kihn, who had just turned 40, watched as a not-so-nice colleague was upped.
"Everyone loved me, but I wasn't getting anywhere. So I enrolled in acting classes. I saw a career coach and a rational emotive therapist. I also took boxing classes, thinking that would make me more aggressive. I started with my dog, who totally dominated me," Kihn told Daily Variety.
"It totally worked, at least professionally, and I made more money at work. Personally, it was a disaster," he said.
Kihn has written about the entertainment biz for a number of national publications. He also did a stint as head writer for MTV Networks' "Pop-Up Video."
