Depardieu twins join Rimbaud pic

Dupeyron to direct 'Fragiles'

COLOGNE -- Gerard Depardieu's twin son and daughter, Guillaume and Julie Depardieu, will appear in "Les jours fragiles," a biopic about 19th century French poet Arthur Rimbaud, helmed by Francois Dupeyron.

"Gerard Depardieu's kids were an obvious choice to play the Rimbaud siblings given that Gillaume has lost a leg, just like Arthur Rimbaud," said a spokeswoman for film funder Eurimages, which has given the pic $600,000.

Eurimages' latest session, which took place in Lisbon, Portugal, allocated $5 million to 12 international co-productions.

The projects were Benoit Jacquot's "Capri 1935"; Claire Denis' "35 Rhums"; Silvio Soldini's "Elsa," about the social descent of a family after a job loss; Vladimir Perisic's drama about Serbian soldiers, "The Ordinary People"; "The Visitor," the debut of Finnish helmer Jukka-Pekka Valkeapaa; "Der gekoepfte Hahn," by Radu Gabrea and Marjan David Vajda; Turkish drama "Mutuluk," by Abdullah Oguz; Cyprus-set comedy "Mikro Eligma," from Christos Georgiou; kidpic "Thea," by Hannah Slak; "Fur einen Augenblick Freiheit," by Arash T. Riahi; and "Saturno Contro," by Ferzan Ozpetek.
