Nick pic, tentatively titled "Legend of the Rings," will expand on the theme of kids inspired to greatness after watching the London 2012 Olympic Games unfold.
Goodrich's slick, five-minute short was widely credited with helping London's 2012 Olympic bid beat out stiff competish from rivals Paris and New York in July last year.
Nickelodeon exec Michelle Raimo's interest was sparked by Rosalie Swedlin and Andrew Deane, from management firm Industry Entertainment, who rep Goodrich and producing partner Caroline Rowland.
Although Goodrich promises "it will be a family film, very much an inspirational one," the Brit duo are keen not to make the film too schmaltzy. According to Rowland, "It's important to address the issue of failure, too. This must not simply be a rose-tinted movie."
The pair has signed a development deal with Nickelodeon; they have been in L.A. thrashing out a script.
A Nick Films spokesman declined comment on the deal.
David Puttnam is advising Goodrich and Rowland on how to handle life in the fast lane in Tinseltown. And he is well-placed to school the duo, who both have a background in sports docs and commercials -- his "Chariots of Fire" picked up four Oscars.
"This can be a four-quadrant, five-continent movie," enthuses Goodrich, who hopes to shoot the film in spring 2007 and release it worldwide before the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
