The Sundance Channel has commissioned two docu miniseries.
The eight-hour "Sin City Law," dealing with capital punishment, comes from Denis Poncet and Jean-Xavier De Lestrade.
The six-hour "Pleasure for Sale," focusing on a legal brothel in Pahrump, Nev., was created by Joe and Harry Gantz ("Taxicab Confessions").
At a luncheon Tuesday in New York, Laura Michalchyshyn, executive VP of programming and marketing for Sundance, said the network has, over the past year, doubled the number of original series it buys and produces.
Kirk Iwanowski, recently promoted to executive VP of marketing, branded entertainment & sponsorships for Sundance, said the network will offer advertisers the chance to get their brands onto various platforms, including on-air, off-air, online VOD, electronic sell-through and wireless.
Poncet and De Lestrade made the Academy Award-winning docu "Murder on a Sunday Morning."
