Former MAC Releasing partner Mike Marcus has joined Echo Lake Entertainment to launch the shingle's management arm.
He will serve as head of Echo Lake Management and receive producer or exec producer credit on projects he works on through the film finance and production division, Echo Lake Prods. Longtime Echo Lake exec Amotz Zakai will straddle both divisions and help Marcus sign international helmers and scribes.
Marcus' presence "allows us to make the logical transition to management as well as to bring our skills as producers to studio-level projects," said Echo Lake founder and prexy Doug Mankoff.
Among the company's new clients are several of Marcus' clients from Cornice Entertainment, a management and production outfit he formed in 1999. Roster includes Deepa Mehta, Dover Koshashvili, Toa Fraser, Paul Brickman, Jeremiah Chechik, Howard Deutch, Frederic Raphael and David Ward.
Marcus previously worked as prexy-chief operating officer of MGM Pictures and did a decade-plus stint as an agent at CAA. He also served as partner of MBST Entertainment. In 2000 he launched MAC Releasing, which merged with ThinkFilm in 2004.
