Cyprus scores Disney content

'Finding Nemo,' 'Toy Story,' 'Lost' included in agreement

Disney has clinched multiyear, multigenre agreements with Cypriot pay TV broadcaster Lumiere (LTV) in collaboration with pubcaster the Cypus Broadcasting Corp. (CyBC).

Buena Vista Intl.'s most comprehensive agreements in this territory to date will bring a broad selection of content to viewers across Cyprus.

Deal comes on the heels of the L.A. Screenings. No pricetag was available for the deal.

Included in the agreement are features "Finding Nemo" and "Toy Story" as well as skeins "Lost," "Criminal Minds," "Ghost Whisperer" and "According to Jim." Also included is season two of "Desperate Housewives," which is already a hit on Lumiere.

In another development, Mouse House execs from various units, including international TV and the Internet division, hosted the first New Media Showcase in the Asia Pacific region to familiarize broadcasters, mobile operators and content aggregators with Disney initiatives.

Among execs attending the event in Singapore over the weekend was Steve Macallister, senior VP for BVITV in the Asia Pacific region.
