Pollak takes swing at script

Palm flies with Red Bird to adapt 'August'

Palm-Star Entertainment has teamed with Red Bird Cinema to adapt Buzz Bissinger book "3 Nights in August" for the bigscreen.

Actor-scribe Kevin Pollak will pen the adaptation. Story centers on a three-game baseball series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs in 2003. For the book, Bissinger gained access to Cardinals manager Tony La Russa.

Palm-Star CEO and co-founder Kevin Frakes will produce along with Red Bird's John Loar and Pollak. Bissinger and La Russa will draw exec producer credit, along with Sriram Das and Palm-Star chairman and co-founder Stephan Paternot. Red Bird Cinema is a partnership of Loar, Pollak and La Russa.

Palm-Star recently premiered the feature "Fifty Pills" at the Tribeca Film Festival. Upcoming projects include "Premium."
