'Stop Loss' enlists second soldier

Tatum joins Phillippe in Iraq war drama

Channing Tatum will topline Kimberly Peirce's "Stop Loss" alongside Ryan Phillippe for Paramount Pictures.

The Iraq war drama tells the story of a soldier (Phillippe) who finishes a tour of duty in Iraq only to be told that he has to serve another so he goes AWOL. Tatum plays a hot-shot fighter from Texas.

Peirce is producing with Scott Rudin.

Shooting was gearing up to start in April but the casting process took longer than expected as filmmakers worked out Phillippe's schedule.

Tatum recently started in DreamWorks' "She's the Man" and will next be seen in the upcoming films "Step Up" and "Guide to Recognizing your Saints."
