'Kitchen' to heat up Asia

Skein a Granada America and A. Smith co-production

The U.S. version of restaurant reality show "Hell's Kitchen" will air widely in Asia following a series of deals by Granada Intl.

Asian nets licensing the 6x90 min. show include regional operator Asian Food Network, UBC of Thailand, Orion Media of South Korea, Discovery India and Solar in the Philippines.

"Hell's Kitchen USA" is a Granada America and A. Smith co-production for Fox and preems today. Deals were unveiled shortly after the show's star Gordon Ramsay signed a $9 million deal in his native Blighty to stay with commercially funded pubcaster Channel 4 for the next four years. The abrasive kitchen guru was being courted by rival ITV.

Granada also licensed ITV crime series "Rosemary and Thyme" and "Murder in Suburbia" to the Mystery Channel in Japan. Matthew Perry-starring TV movie "The Triumph" was acquired by Japanese pubcaster NHK.
