Checking the pulse on 'Sicko'

Moore sez next pic approaching completion

Michael Moore's "Sicko," the gadfly helmer's healthcare expose, is apparently alive, well, and almost ready for release.

That was the word last week when the director surfaced at a Gotham screening of Dean Devlin's activist doc "Who Killed the Electric Car?" -- and "Sicko"'s status was confirmed.

Per the "Fahrenheit 9/11" director, the new pic is "three quarters of the way done" and has a targeted release date, via the Weinstein Co., set for later this year.

Moore, who has kept an unusually low profile over the past year, also used the opportunity to stump for the Devlin doc and others in the marketplace.

"I think that this is a really important film, especially in conjunction with the Al Gore film ("An Inconvenient Truth")," he said. "These two films give information to the public that they otherwise wouldn't be able to get."
