Sidney Kimmel Entertainment has set Anton Yelchin, Robert Downey Jr., Hope Davis, Kat Dennings and Tyler Hilton to star in "Charlie Bartlett," a coming-of-age story that marks the directorial debut of Jon Poll.

Shooting begins this month. MGM will distribute.

In the Gustin Nash-scripted dark comedy, Yelchin ("Alpha Dog") plays a wealthy teen who goes to a new public high school and ingratiates himself into its social fabric by using his charm to become the school's resident "psychiatrist." Downey, who recently completed "Zodiac" and "A Scanner Darkly," plays the school principal.

Poll is the longtime editor for Jay Roach on such films as "Meet the Fockers" and "Austin Powers in Goldmember," and he most recently was exec producer on "The 40-Year- Old Virgin." Pic will be produced by David Permut, Barron Kidd, Roach and Sidney Kimmel, with William Horberg exec producing with Bruce Toll, Trish Hofmann and Jennifer Perini. Steve Longhi is co-producing.

SKE's Kimmel Intl. is handling overseas territories.

"Having spent years in cutting rooms with Jon, I can say without hesitation that he's a pure storyteller and a master of tone," Roach said.
