IFC takes 'Aura,' 'Man'

First Take slate adds pair

IFC Entertainment has added two pics from Argentina to its First Take day-and-date release slate, Fabian Bielinsky's "The Aura" and Daniel Burman's "The Family Man."

As with the other titles on the First Take slate, the two Spanish-language pics will be distributed simultaneously in theaters and through video-on-demand via cablers Comcast and Cablevision.

"Family Law" was the second Cannes buy for the First Take banner after "Destricted," a compilation of erotic films.

IFC prexy Jonathan Sehring said the new distrib slate touts films from a number of recognized contemporary directors from around the globe.

"Family Law," which revolves around a thirtysomething man and his roles as father and son, completes Burman's trilogy of fatherhood pics, and was Berlin's 2006 Panorama Special opener.

"Aura," which follows up on Bielinsky's "Nine Queens," is about a shy taxidermist who secretly dreams of executing the perfect robbery. His dreams come true -- sort of -- when he accidentally kills a man on a hunting trip and inherits the man's scheme to rob an armored van.

"Family Law" and "Aura" were acquired through Celluloid Dreams.

IFC First Take has released several pics this year, including "I Am a Sex Addict" and "Confederate States of America."
