Helmer Winner declines Queen Elizabeth's kudos

Queen Elizabeth wanted to honor Michael Winner with an OBE, but the director rejected it, saying, "An OBE is what you get if you clean the toilets well at King's Cross station."

Director Winner ("Death Wish") has campaigned for 22 years to salute police officers killed in the line of duty. He wrote in his Sunday Times column, "I didn't do my stuff for the police to get anything and I really don't care if I get anything or not."

In Who's Who, Winner lists his hobbies, including "being difficult."
