Cine Tyrol honor lauds Groschup

IFFI director receives kudo from film promo org

Helmut Groschup. director of Austria's Internationales Film Festival Innsbruck (IFFI), has received the Cine Tyrol Award given annually by Cine Tyrol, the org that promotes film activity in the Austrian/Italian region.

The IFFI, which opened Thursday, has been headed by Groschup since its founding in 1999. It puts an emphasis on documentaries from Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Groschup is the fifth winner of the award, given to people for cineaste efforts for the Alpine region. Previous recipients are helmer Jean-Jacques Annaud, Berlinale topper Dieter Kosslick, Tyrol-born actor Tobias Moretti and Cine Tyrol founder Erich Hoertnagel.

Recent productions that filmed in Tyrol include Hollywood remake "Last Holiday," Brazilian Telenovala "A lua me disse" and Swedish Oscar nominee "As It Is in Heaven."
