Some 1,500 foreign TV program buyers swept into town last week to assess the new primetime network shows -- and presumably buy a few for their stations back home.
The Mouse House's top distribution exec Laurie Younger and her team hosted a shindig at the Roosevelt Hotel.
Salma Hayek and America Ferrera, the exec producer and star respectively of Disney's upcoming series "Betty the Ugly," were among those hobnobbing with buyers and posing for photogs during the affair. Lionel Richie provided the entertainment.
Sony opened its backlot to the foreign contingent May 22 on the heels of a screening of "The Da Vinci Code," while Fox hosted back-to-back pours and screenings of "X-Men" May 25.
Only indie to score a primetime pickup, Lionsgate, entertained at the Cabana Club with talent from its CW midseasoner "Hidden Palms" in tow, including creator Kevin Williamson and stars Gail O'Grady and Sharon Lawrence. Also mixing with the buyers were "Lovespring's" Jennifer Elise Cox and "The Dresden Files" ' Paul Blackthorne.
