Maverick getting 'Buried'

Morgan's shingle will produce thriller

Mark Morgan's Maverick Films will produce thriller "Buried," hiring Joel Soisson to direct from a spec script by Jeff Dixon.

Story revolves around young urban explorers who find the remnants of WWII medical experiments gone wrong.

Urban exploration is a subculture with a growing following. Aim is to gain entry to restricted areas or abandoned structures, such as missile silos, lunatic asylums, subway tunnels or storm drains.

Shooting is skedded to begin in late fall in Prague and Los Angeles. Producers are Morgan, Guy Oseary and Brent Emery.

Soisson wrote and directed two installments in the "Prophecy" franchise and has produced more than 40 films, including the upcoming "Pulse," a remake of Japanese film "Kairo" to be released by Dimension Films.

Soisson's production company, Neo Art & Logic, also has a digital effects division.

Maverick's upcoming slate includes remake "My Sassy Girl," which it's producing with Vertigo and Gold Circle Films; "Stealing Cars"; and "The Stanford Prison Experiment."
