Brit cops collar 'Thick' thesp

Langham involved in child pornography investigation

Brit thesp Chris Langham, who won for comedy performance at Sunday's BAFTA TV awards, has been charged with 15 counts of making indecent images of children.

Kent police confirmed that the star of BBC comedy "The Thick of It" will appear before magistrates Wednesday. Langham was arrested in November 2005 as part of an investigation into child pornography on the 'Net.

In a statement issued through his solicitors, Langham said: "I am devastated to have been charged with offenses arising from a police investigation.

"I am anxious to clear my name and although there is a great deal I would like to say, I am unable to do so as a result of the legal proceedings."

In "The Thick of It," Langham plays a pragmatic government minister getting to grips with a new department. The show also received the BAFTA sitcom prize.

Last year Langham received rave reviews for his portrayal of a psychiatrist in "Help," which won the comedy program BAFTA gong.
