Gauls hail a cab with fourth 'Taxi'

New pic slated to begin shooting in France in mid-June

Luc Besson's Europacorp is about to hop into a fourth "Taxi."

Sequel, co-produced by Gallic indie ARP, is being kept under wraps ahead of Cannes, but buzz is already at full throttle since the first three "'Taxis" tallied 23 million admissions in France and grossed nearly $200 million worldwide.

New pic is slated to begin shooting in France in mid-June, with regular co-stars Frederic Diefenthal and Sami Naceri toplining.

But Marion Cotillard, "Taxi's" resident female, won't be along for the ride this time. The thesp has gone on to bigger -- and more serious -- things, playing chanteuse Edith Piaf in the ambitious Gallic biopic "La Vie En Rose," being handled internationally by TF1 Intl.

Besides its involvement in "Taxi 4," ARP will be touting another big project in Cannes, Alain Corneau's $27 million Gallic remake of noir thriller "Le Deuxieme Souffle," starring Daniel Auteuil, Monica Bellucci and Michel Blanc.
