New Line has tapped Dax Shepard to star in and Tom Brady to direct corporate comedy "The Retreat" for Guy Walks Into a Bar partners Jon Berg and Todd Komarnicki.
Story centers on a thirtysomething hot dog vendor at Chicago's Wrigley Field who lands a job at a corporation, climbs the management ladder thanks to the simple wisdom he's picked up selling franks and discovers at a company retreat that he's the target of sabotage by a disgruntled employee.
Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland, who won an Emmy for "King of the Hill," penned the script. John Jacobs exec produces.
Shepard will be seen later this year in three comedies: "Employee of the Month," "Idiocracy" and "Let's Go to Prison." Brady, who directed "The Hot Chick," is attached to write and direct Dimension's "Welcome Back, Kotter."
Berg and Komarnicki, who launched the shingle with New Line's "Elf" as their maiden project, are also producing "Starship Dave" for Fox; Peter Segal directs the Eddie Murphy starrer. David Friendly and Marc Turtletaub also produce.
