News Brief

Dan Brown may not be planning on a new book this year, but the sales go on without him.

A whopping 1.4 million copies of the paperback edition of "The Da Vinci Code" have sold in the month since it came out.

It's an impressive number for any paperback but even more striking for a tome that has sold more than 10 million copies in the U.S. in hardcover. (By comparison, the most recent Harry Potter paperback sold 1.5 million copies over two years.)

Doubleday will host a screening of Sony's "The Da Vinci Code" next month at the annual BookExpo America confab in Washington, D.C., the day after its world preem in Cannes.

The idea? To get booksellers excited about selling the book as a tie-in to the film.

As if they needed it.
