The women's cable network is teaming with Shannen Doherty for a reality series that will let viewers hire the "Beverly Hills, 90210" bad girl to nix significant others, bad friends and tyrannical bosses.
Doherty skein will be one of two marquee shows the cabler will launch this summer. The other is June premiere "The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency," a 10-part reality series chronicling Dickinson's attempts to launch her own business.
Oxygen has greenlit 13 episodes of "Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty" from exec producers Scott Hallock and Kevin Healey (Sci Fi Channel's "Scare Tactics"). Doherty will also exec produce.
Turning the reality relationship show on its head, skein sends Dohertyto rescue people trapped in toxic relationships. In each episode, she'll go undercover to assess the situation of her client and, if a relationship seems doomed, she'll instigate a breakup.
"Shannen belongs on Oxygen -- she is the ideal addition to our roster of ... sometimes controversial women," said Oxygen programming/marketing prexy Debby Beece. "Breaking Up" fits in with the irreverent image Oxygen has been pushing for itself via comedies like "Campus Ladies" and events including "Mo'Nique's Fat Chance."
Hallock and Healey Entertainment's credits include "Spy TV" and "25 Million Dollar Hoax."
