Pic is currently lensing in Los Angeles with Brian Robbins at the helm. John Davis is producing along with Robbins' business partner Mike Tollin and Murphy.
Laffer stars Murphy in the title role, a meek guy pressed into marrying a monstrous woman (also Murphy), only to meet the woman of his dreams (Newton).
Gooding takes the role of Newton's boyfriend, while Griffin will star as a retired pimp. Crews ("Everybody Hates Chris") is in as one of Norbit's in-laws in the John Fox-shepherded pic.
"Norbit" reunites Murphy with his "Daddy Day Care" and "Dr. Dolittle" producer Davis.
