Van Praagh, who co-exec produces CBS' "Ghost Whisperer," has sealed a one-year deal (with an option for a second) with CBS Paramount Network TV to develop a wide variety of projects, including scripted and reality series, as well as TV movies.
Pact, which starts in June, also keeps Van Praagh on as a special correspondent for CBS Paramount's syndie strips "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider."
Van Praagh's relationship with the Eye web goes back to earlier in the decade, when he produced the CBS mini "Living With the Dead," which was inspired by his book "Talking to Heaven." Ted Danson/Mary Steenburgen starrer aired in 2002.
Van Praagh also produced 2004 telepic "The Dead Will Tell," starring Anne Heche, for CBS.
CBS Paramount Network TV prexy David Stapf said he was looking to tap into Van Praagh's "unique vision."
"We've been fortunate to see first-hand his ability to produce compelling and thoughtful television through 'Ghost Whisperer,'" Stapf said.
Van Praagh, who's repped by Paradigm, hosted the daytime talker "Beyond With James Van Praagh" in 2002. He has written several books about his experience as a spiritual medium, most recently the teen-targeted "Looking Beyond."
Van Praagh said he plans to develop programming "which not only entertains, but matches the public's ever-growing demand for exploring other perceptions of reality."
