'Lost' man on the job

Lindelof talks biz in L.A.

"Lost" co-creator and exec producer Damon Lindelof tackled diversity in the entertainment business Tuesday, delivering the keynote at the Entertainment & Media Career Expo at the L.A. Convention Center.

Event was produced by VarietyCareers and Shomex.

Lindelof made an impact with his opening statement: "I am a racist," he declared. The crowd of 250 warmed up as Lindelof made his point that everyone is subject to hidden biases, and it's better to confront them than to pretend they don't exist. He cited "Crash" as an example and played a clip from the Oscar-winning film.

Following the keynote, doors to the job fair/expo opened and 4,000 attendees visited reps from media companies including NBC, Warner Bros., Disney and DirecTV.
