Janda to be honored in May
Janda has been on screen since the 1970s, when she filmed with Andrzej Wajda and Istvan Szabo. In 1990, she received the Cannes Palme d'Or for actress in Richard Bogaski's "The Interrogation."
The jury also highlighted Janda's political commitment to women's rights and East-West relations during the Cold War.
The media medal was introduced in 2000 as a parallel kudos to the political Charlemagne Award, to honor media personalities for their achievement for European integration. Those who received the award include Dutch writer Cees Nooteboom, TV producer Jan Mojto, helmer Jean-Jacques Annaud und German TV manager Fritz Pleitgen
Those pm medal's board include reps from BBC World, Eurosport, TV5, EuroNews, Jan Mojto's Eos Entertainment and German funder Filmstiftung NRW.
