Latin Discovery net taps Garcia

Exec new programming director for Spain, Portugal

Discovery Networks Latin America/Iberia has tapped vet Spanish TV exec Paloma Garcia as programming director for Spain and Portugal.

She replaces Pilar de las Casas, appointed general director of movie service Hollywood Channel in February.

Garcia most recently was ADSL TV content director of Deutsche Telecom's Spanish Internet operator Ya.com.

With more than ten years of experience at Spain's free and pay TV business, Garcia has also worked as head of acquisitions at commercial web Antena 3, head of programming at cable TV operator ONO and general director of Barcelona-based production house Tiburon TV.

She will oversee programming strategies, acquisitions, production and promotion of all the services Discovery Networks airs in Spain and Portugal, including Discovery Channel, People + Arts, Discovery Civilization, Discovery Science and Discovery Turbo.
