Oz's Foxtel inks Burnett reality deal

Deal includes 'Rock Star 2,' 'Contender,' 'Apprentice'

SYDNEY -- Paybox Foxtel has inked an output deal with reality guru Mark Burnett Prods. and also will begin a video-on-demand service through its Foxtel IQ set-top box this year.

Burnett deal includes the skeins "Rock Star 2," seasons two and three of "The Contender" and "The Apprentice" season six.

The feevee operator has already had success with Burnett's "Rock Star: INXS" and the first season of "The Contender."

Deal comes just after Foxtel warned at the Australian Broadcasting Summit in Sydney that it would be a more aggressive dealmaker this year now that it is in profit after 10 years of losses.

Foxtel also plans a remote recording service allowing consumers to program their digital video recorders via cell phone.
