NEW YORK -- Paul Giamatti and Chris Evans have joined the cast of Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini's bigscreen adaptation of "The Nanny Diaries."
Pic stars Scarlett Johansson as a working-class woman from New Jersey who becomes a nanny to a wealthy Manhattan family.
Giamatti will play Mr. X, the brood's imposing patriarch, Evans ("Fantastic Four") the Park Avenue hunk who steals Johansson's heart.
Donna Murphy and Laura Linney round out the cast.
Pic, which begins lensing in Gotham this month, is based on Nicola Kraus and Emma McLaughlin's popular satirical tome.
Richard Gladstein ("Finding Neverland") is producing, and Dany Wolf ("Last Days") exec produces. The Weinstein Co. will distribute.
Giamatti's upcoming credits include Neil Burger's "The Illusionist" and M. Night Shyamalan's "Lady in the Water."
Evans recently appeared in Hunter Richards' gritty indie pic "London."
Murphy has a role in Darren Aronofsky's "The Fountain."
