Fox Searchlight's "Little Miss Sunshine" will kick off the opening night of Sundance Institute at BAM, a new series of film, theater and musical perfs, plus panel discussions, that will run May 11-21 through a partnership between Sundance and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Sundance at BAM will include 15 features and a program of shorts culled from this year's Sundance Film Festival in Utah.

Searchlight picked up "Sunshine" at Sundance this year as the fest's biggest buy. Pic by husband-and-wife commercials and musicvid directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris stars Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette and Steve Carell.

Other films that made waves at this year's fest and will head to Brooklyn include Hilary Brougher's "Stephanie Daley," staring Tilda Swinton, Amber Tamblyn and Timothy Hutton; Michael Cain and Matt Radecki's docu "TV Junkie"; Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg's docu "The Trials of Darryl Hunt"; and Goran Dukic's black comedy "Wristcutters: A Love Story," starring Patrick Fugit.

Series will also include a section dubbed Days of Process that takes auds behind the scenes of indie films. Panel "Unraveling the Usual Suspects" will include a discussion with scribe Christopher McQuarrie on the creation of the hit 1995 indie.

Janet Maslin will also host panel "Four Independents That Turned the Tide," covering a cadre of seminal helmers.

Other components of the series will include the Sundance Theater Songbook, an evening of music celebrating artists supported by the Sundance Institute Theater Program.
