Longtime "Scrubs" scribes Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan have inked their first overall deal, setting up shop at NBC Universal Television Studios.
Two-year pact, which carries a seven-figure pricetag, calls for the duo -- who've also worked on "Family Guy" -- to develop and create series projects for the Peacock-owned studio. They're expected to remain with Touchstone-produced "Scrubs" if the skein returns next season.
Goldman and Donovan already had a relationship with NBC U. A year ago, they partnered with "Scrubs" czar Bill Lawrence to create "Nobody's Watching," a much buzzed-about WB Network comedy pilot that the Frog rejected in favor of skeins such as "Twins" and "Modern Men."
NBC U TV Studios prexy Angela Bromstead said "Nobody's Watching" is "one of the shows all the assistants here still point to" when talking about pilots that should have gotten a greenlight.
"It was completely original, not just in its content but also with its structure and the concept," she said, adding the Goldman and Donovan boast "all the things you need from big producers."
Scribes, who are co-exec producers on "Scrubs," snagged a comedy-writing Emmy nom in 2004 for the seg "My Screwup." Episode also won a Humanitas Award.
Repped by UTA, Goldman and Donovan have been with "Scrubs" since its first season. Before that, they were part of the original writing team on "Family Guy," spending 2½ seasons as exec story editors.
