Set in the days just before President George W. Bush launched full-scale war in 2003, story revolves around a covert U.S. military unit that is on the hunt for an AWOL American soldier in Iraq. The soldier is looking for his brother, who went missing when fighting in the first Gulf War.
U prexy of production Donna Langley and senior VP of production Dylan Clark will oversee for the studio; Imagine senior VP of motion pictures David Bernardi oversees for the shingle.
There are several other Iraqi war projects now in the works, although studios have been slow to greenlight films about the ongoing conflict. Paramount is planning Kimberly Peirce's "Stop-Loss," which revolves around a soldier who refuses to return to Iraq and fight.
Helmer Irwin Winkler is presently lensing indie pic "Home of the Brave," starring Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Biel, Christina Ricci and Brian Presley.
Imagine's upcoming slate includes Universal's "Inside Man," which opens Friday, and "The Da Vinci Code" for Sony.
