New Line in 'Trout' pond

Studio finds 'Disappearance' from scribes

New Line has caught "Disappearance of Trout," preemptively snapping up the fantasy spec script by tyro writers Chris Ferrence and Dan Parada and setting it up with David Kirschner and Corey Sienega.

Story centers on a popular 13-year-old boy who is heir to a town's amusement park but vanishes for two decades. He then reappears, unaged, to help repair the lives of those once close to him and the heart of the town.

New Line's Mark Kaufman is overseeing for the studio.

"Trout" marks Kirschner and Sienega's fourth collaboration with New Line following 2003's "Secondhand Lions" and the upcoming "The Martian Child" and "Santakid."The producers, who operate David Kirschner Prods., are teamed with Phoenix Pictures on Renee Zellweger starrer "Miss Potter," for which the Weinstein Co. has just acquired North American rights.
