Fandango pacting with Cingular

ShoWest Brief

Online movie ticketing company Fandango is pacting with Cingular, its second deal with a cellular carrier to sell tickets on mobile devices.

Netco recently signed with Sprint PCS as well, allowing customers of both carriers with compatible phones to get showtimes, movie news and information and related art and games as well as purchase tickets.

That puts Fandango ahead in the race to get on mobile devices, while competitor MovieTickets.com has a lead among Web sites, having recently signed with Yahoo! Movies (Daily Variety, March 14).

Fandango is hoping to use such deals to sell marketing space to studios on mobile platforms.
