Twentieth Century Fox has bought spec comedy "We Are Family" by scribe Dan Shere for Ralph Winter to produce.

Pic centers on an advertising exec who's embarrassed by his real family and hires actors to play his parents and siblings in order to impress his fiancee.

Winter will produce through his Fox-based eponymous shingle. VP Susana Zepeda will oversee for the company. Noah Rosen, Shere's manager at Circle of Confusion, will exec produce.

Debbie Liebling oversees for Fox.

Project marks a new direction for Winter, who has mainly produced major tentpole pics at Fox, such as the "X-Men" franchise. "X-Men: The Last Stand" unspools in May. Winter is in pre-production on the sequel to Fox's "The Fantastic Four."
