Bizzers boost USC chairs

Lucas, Spielberg help to add eight endowed chairs

USC's School of Cinema-Television has made some additions with the help of showbiz friends.

George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, as well as Electronic Arts' Bing Gordon, are helping to add eight endowed chairs, making a total of 12. The addition makes USC the leader in endowed chairs among top film schools in the U.S.

Lucas and Spielberg jointly funded two of the chairs - the Ken Wannberg Endowed Chair in Music Editing, and the Conrad Hall Endowed Chair in Cinematography and Color Timing. Lucas also individually funded the Kay Rose Endowed Chair in the Art of Sound and Dialogue Editing.

In addition to the chairs, Josh Schwartz, alumnus and creator/exec producer of "The OC" has endowed the school with its first television- writing scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to students selected for a completed TV pilot script and first season synopsis.
