New Line's a fan of 'Pan'

Studio nabs horror-take on kiddie classic

New Line has acquired horror pitch "Pan" by tyro scribe Ben Magid in a preemptive bid and set it up with Brooklyn Weaver's Energy Entertainment banner.

Story's a backward take on J.M. Barrie's "Peter Pan" with supernatural elements in which the Pan character's a villain tracked by police captain named Hook.

New Line prexy Toby Emmerich and Jeff Katz are overseeing for the studio. Newly minted manager Jake Wagner oversees development of the project for Energy.

Weaver's an exec producer on "The Number 23," in production with Jim Carrey and Virginia starring and Joel Schumacher directing. His client Fernley Phillips penned the script and is co-producing.

Weaver's also developing "Planet Terry" at New Line, "Prom" at Lionsgate, "Spin" at Spyglass, "Bachelorette" at Universal, "Turn" at Radar and "Wimpy" at Alcon/Warner Bros.
