David Duchovny acquired the life rights of Linda Brewer, an Arkansas woman who raised her daughters by hosting passion parties and selling marital sex toys out of her car.
Duchovny, who makes his producing debut on the project, drafted wife Leoni.
Susan Brightbill will write the script, after penning "Hergatory" for Warner Bros. and "Twice Upon a Time" for Fox 2000.
Brewer dropped out of high school when she got married. When she found herself single and in need of a career, she attended a "passion party," the X-rated version of a Tupperware party, and became a pitchwoman for pleasure, thriving in the Bible belt.
"Linda Brewer's example is inspiring, colorful and potentially very funny," Duchovny said. "Her journey also exists firmly in the Heartland tradition of American success stories and comedies."
Producing with Duchovny is Beacon prexy Zanne Devine, who brought the project to Disney, where Karen Glass and Nina Jacobson will oversee for the studio. Beacon's Armyan Bernstein and Charlie Lyons will exec produce with Melanie Greene and Richard G. Murphy of Melanie Greene Prods.
Leoni last starred in "Fun With Dick and Jane." Duchovny's move into producing follows his progression into writing and directing. He made his feature helming debut in that regard with "House of D," which he wrote, and hopes to follow with his father-son story "Bucky Fucking Dent." He just starred in the Bart Freundlich-directed "Trust the Man" for Fox Searchlight, Jake Kasdan's "TV Set" and the Vincent Perez-directed "The Secret."
