Oscar shorts offered on iTunes

Netco pacts with Magnolia, Shorts Intl. for pics

'Our Time is Up'

This year's Oscar-nominated live-action shorts, including 'Our Time Is Up,' are now available for download through iTunes.

Even iTunes is getting into Oscar.

Adding to its digital video collection, the download service is offering up this year's five Oscar-nominated live-action shorts.

"Six Shooter," "The Last Farm," "Cashback" "Our Time Is Up" and "Ausreisser" were made available Tuesday. Cost is the standard $1.99 a pop.

The shorts appeared on the platform via a deal between distrib Magnolia Pictures and U.K.-based Shorts Intl.

Shorts from Disney and Pixar were until now the only other collections available.

All 10 live-action and animated short Oscar nominees rolled out as a single program that opened Friday in select U.S. markets and will expand nationwide in the next few weeks.

Shorts Intl. and Magnolia also will distribute them theatrically in the U.K. beginning Saturday under a deal with the Picturehouse chain of specialty cinemas.

"Up until now, people had very little access to see Academy short nominations before the Academy ceremony," said Magnolia prexy Eamonn Bowles.
