Opposite weak numbers for the Closing Ceremonies of the Winter Olympics on NBC, ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" dominated from 8 to 10 (8.6 rating/19 share in adults 18-49, 27.1 million viewers overall) — well above the show's averages on its regular night, Thursday. The Alphabet's hot medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" took over from there (10.8/24 in 18-59, 24.8 million viewers overall), beating the combined NBC-CBS competish by 7 shares in 18-49 and by 11 shares in 25-54.
Fox ran second on the night, getting a nice boost from a NASCAR overrun from 7 to 8 (4.7/13 in 18-49, 12.4 million viewers overall). That led into solid results for comedies "The Simpsons" (4.6/11 in 18-49, 9.7 million viewers overall), a repeat "Family Guy" (4.2/9 in 18-49, 8.1 million viewers overall) and an original "American Dad" (4.0/8 in 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall).
From 7 to 11, NBC's coverage of the Torino Games, including the Closing Ceremonies, settled for a third-place 3.5/8 in 18-49 and 14.0 million viewers overall. CBS was led by an original "Cold Case" at 8 (3.9/9 in 18-49, 14.4 million viewers overall).
Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: ABC, 7.8/18; Fox, 4.3/10; NBC, 3.5/8; CBS, 3.2/7; WB, 1.5/3.
