'Locke' and loaded

Warner Bros. books U.K. fantasy epic

Warner Bros. Pictures has bought the film rights to Scott Lynch's fantasy epic "The Lies of Locke Lamora" for Michael De Luca and Julie Yorn to produce.

"Locke Lamora," the first of a seven-book series, will be released in the U.K. in June, quickly followed by a U.S. release.

Story revolves around the adventures of a likable con artist named Locke Lamora as he and his band of followers, the Gentleman Bastards, navigate the Venice-like city of Camorr.

Book will be published by Orion Publishing in London.

De Luca ("Zathura: A Space Adventure") produced Columbia Pictures' upcoming "Ghost Rider," based on the Marvel Comics character. He will produce "Locke Lamora" through his Michael De Luca Prods.

Yorn ("The Exorcism of Emily Rose") is prexy of Firm Films.

Warners exec VP of production Kevin McCormick and creative exec Jess Rosenthal will oversee "Locke Lamora" for the studio.

Michael De Luca Prods.' Josh Bratman brought in the project.
