HOLLYWOOD -- Miramax's changing of the guard didn't put a damper on attendance at the "Tsotsi" preem Feb. 22, with the Pacific Design Center an SRO venue.

Film's writer-director Gavin Hood managed to reserve a spot for his attending parents, but gave up his own seat, much to the relief of an audience member standing in the aisle.

Hood was feeling the pressure of being Miramax topper Daniel Battsek's first launch.

"It's a movie that will hopefully come to sum up the sort of films we will be looking to make and acquire for Miramax," said Battsek.

Afterward, the audience filed into the lobby for cocktails, where attendees including Samuel L. Jackson, "Desperate Housewives' " Alfre Woodard and Dylan McDermott chewed the fat.

Event was co-hosted by Amnesty Intl. and Artists for a New South Africa.
